Review 2007

After our company's appraisal session on Monday, it was self-reflection on the year's main scope of work. Overall, I was very much encouraged by the review and of course, challenged to improve further. Thank God for such understanding and loving authorities, who trust and share, like friends do. I appreciate each of the co-workers, for who they are - special beings who choose to bless others in each of their special ways. Especially those who take extra steps to be honestly themselves, like iron sharpening iron. I would not have improved over the year without you. Thank you for trusting me. I am all in to celebrate our success tomorrow evening!

Perhaps it was the preoccupation in thoughts that I lost focus on my physical surroundings. Is it surprising that it is the first time I did sprain my ankle? For some, sprains and fractures seems like part and parcel, I realised. Haha. Nevertheless, I appreciate the kind advice from friends these few days. I am getting better and faster, taking care not to loss balance in my eager to recover. I shall miss my badminton, swimming, cycling and shopping khakis for at least 2 weeks from now.. *sob* Chinese New Year is coming, you know. I shall be guai and be still..

Thinking forward, this year is going to be exciting I see. Planning ahead: Hoping to take up part-time teaching sessions with TP, make trips to the Philippines and China. Details are yet confirmed and thus the need for patient anticipation. Thanking the Lord for each breathe, each new morning. Each day serves its purpose, and preparations. Reading on Proverbs for much wisdom.

'Upgrade'

Yippy! I passed Basic Theory Test for Driving yesterday. Haha. It really felt great to progress ever since failing the first attempt. Never, never study editions dated as far back as 1996 (which was Mum's copy).

These days I hardly had the room to bump around.. due to a deadline coming soon. One highlight of each day -the television programs on TV - the drama series from 9pm, and Coffee Prince (Korean), which never fail to make me crack. Really weird characters and storyline. It is terrible to spend so much time in front of the 'black box'. I should stop once these shows are over.

Is the holiday mood still lingering or just a change of season? I need to get to working gear, to get design ideas flowing. Also, to master guitar this time, pick up some useful cookery basics from Mum, and make the most of my library premium privileges before it expires next month! (Manage to watch DVDs on 'Martin Lurther King', 'Charles Darwin's Bibliography', 'The Mystery of the MegaFlood' last weekend and left with 'The Fall of Communism'.) New year resolutions.

Ohh... and to improve the out-look of my blog. Have been wanting to do so for a long time!

My New Year Day + week

A wedding, a funeral and a newborn to mark the beginning of the new year.

Shawn and Adeline shared their romantic moment with everyone who came to witness and bless. The programs were somehow different and interesting. Afterwhich I made a trip very much looked forward, to the botanical garden.

The garden was still as familiar, only that it had a new group of people. I wandered to stumble into new things, and finally settled at a random spot, joining everyone who was scattered over the greens. The after rain set the tone. There was the plea of a young girl asking her dad to have their umbrellas opened beside them (her family) even though the area was already much sheltered with trees (*giggles*). It was kind of funny that she had wanted what seem more like a beach setting. The interesting crowd included some monks who were playing frisbee beside me, having a great time. People blend in perfectly with nature. The magic of a garden is that it accepts behaviours which some other public places do not. I spread out on my shower screen (which was as applicable as a ground sheet) and harmonised with my surroundings. It was a day I thought well-spent, as purposeful as working diligently or helping others - to be heartful of my being.

4th Jan, I attended brother Vincent Tan's funeral at Jelapang. He had departed on new year day, sucumbling to the functional breakdown of his body. The bereaved family members stayed strong with the memories left by the one who had loved. The positive message shared by Elder Chen was edifying, illustrating the better place that had been prepared for those who believe its existance and the One who prepare this place.

I had visited Sister at her in-laws' place yesterday evening. It was great to see her after about 2 months. She is getting better since the birth of Kai Xuan but not enough for her to get around like before. Kai Xuan had grown lovelier; her smiles spreaded from her lovely face to mine. :) I played with her little elder brothers, and was very much entertained by their little talks. Kids. Haha.. I think I am still one.
